Anybody remember Rick Springfield? The pop star from yesteryear? Not from my youth, mind you. Maybe in the 80's. One of his biggest hits was "Jessie's Girl". Now does he ring a bell?
Anyway, it was cool when I read in this past Sunday's paper about his marriage and family. He's got two sons in their 20's and a marriage that's 25-years old!
Now that's just plain cool!
He says of his wife, "She's still my best friend... We've worked at it."
Indeed is marriage work. Hard work at times. But well worth the effort.
I hope you know the Lord, Rick. It is far more important than a good marriage. However, I am proud of you for your attitude toward your own marriage. May you and Barbara be happy till death do you part.
Kudos (is that how you spell it?) for USA Weekend for publishing the brief line about Rick and his family. Such stories need to be more prevalent.
Who would have thought that I'd become a Rick Springfield fan after all these years? I'm just a sucker for strong marriages I guess.

Thank you for your kudos to Rick and Barbie on their long marriage. (yes, that's how you spell it..."kudos!") I have been a fan of Rick since I was 13 & I'm now 41. I am also happy for Rick and his long marriage to Barbara. I have been married for almost 22 years to a wonderful man, and I too share your enthusiasm over long marriages & the importance of family. I have met Rick several times in the last few years and he is a super great guy in person & he truly does value their relationship and his family.
So you are just now becoming a fan? Never too late! Check out all of his amazing music, dating clear back to the late 60's! :) His songs are open & brutally honest & they tell the stories of his life and all he's been through, the good and the bad. He has truly earned his spot in the business & has a great success story & a heart of gold. He's one of the most amazing songwriters of our time in my opinion.
Thanks again for the little write-up about Rick! :-)
